Congratulations to our WCS Board of Education Members on receiving awards from the NCSBA Academy of School Boardsmanship. The recognitions were presented by Interim Superintendent, Dr. David O. White to Ms. Vanessa Cherry a Certificate of Achievement, Ms. Lois Clark an Award of Excellence, Mrs. Sherri Blount Gilliam a Certificate of Merit, Mr. Fred Norman a Bronze Award and Mr. Carlos Riddick an Award of Distinction.

Calling all parents, students, staff, and community members your feedback is needed. The WCS Calendar Committee has drafted 2 proposed calendars for the 2024-2025 school year. Washington County Schools will host a DISTRICT ARTS NIGHT on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the WCMS/PES Gym in Roper, NC. The ART Work will be created by the scholars from each of our five schools. The ART Teachers from WCHS, WCMS, PES and CES have inspired the scholars to be creative with their unique masterpieces. WCECHS scholars are preparing ART WORK as well. Each of the performers are preparing their performance to showcase with our community. Please come out to support our scholars throughout the medium of the ARTS. The excitement is in the air!

The FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT District Team will be hosting the Harlem Magic Masters with a FREE Community event on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at WCMS in the gym. The Harlem Magic Masters will utilize the medium of basketball to engage scholars with a variety of topics from anti-bullying to chronic absenteeism. Come on out for this great event for all 5 schools. See you there.

LOVE THE BUS week is February 12th - February 16th!! Thank a Student Transporter when you see them and let then know how much you appreciate them. We LOVE our Bus Drivers!! We could not do it without you! Make sure to show your appreciation to our heroes this week and every day! February is Love the Bus Month, a time for us to celebrate and show appreciation to those who ensure the safety of our students every day, to and from school and on Field Experiences beyond school. A few key points from the NC State Board of Education Department of Public Instruction (DPI) during School Bus Driver Appreciation Week (February 12-16).The school bus is the safest way to get to and from school. The community benefits by saving money using school bus transportation and with improvements to traffic around the school. Take time to show your appreciation to the people who are a major part of a child's education, ensuring their safe arrival and departure from school, and oftentimes making an impact on the lives of kids every day. Carter G. Woodson was a scholar whose dedication to celebrating the historic contributions of Black people led to the establishment of Black History Month, marked every February since 1976.

Feb. 5-9, 2024, is recognized to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. Thank you Ms. M. Cannon, Mrs. R. Rasonabe and Mrs. K. Norman for all that you do for scholars, families and staff.

In recognition of School Board Appreciation Month, we would like to thank each of our Washington County School Board of Education Members for all that you do for the scholars, families, faculty and staff. Good evening Parents and Scholars. Progress reports will be sent home with scholars on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. If you have any questions or need to schedule a parent-teacher conference, please reach out to your child's teacher or call the school at 252-797-4766 to schedule a conference. Juniors, you should have a received a letter about ACT WorkKeys. In order to be exempt from testing this Spring, you and your parent must sign the form and send it back ASAP. Parents, remember, class starts at 8:00 AM. If your child arrives after 8:00 AM, you must sign them in. They must be in their class at 8:00 AM and not arriving on campus at 8:00 AM. Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are available on Washington County Early College High School's webpage. Just click the "Our School" tab and applications are located under Counselor's Corner. You may print the paper form and bring it completed to the Early College or you may submit the online application. You can also stop by the school and pick up an application packet. If submitting the online application, the online teacher recommendations must be completed also. Please let your teachers know to go to our webpage to access the online recommendation form. Applications will not be considered unless all components have been submitted. All Applications are due by March 15, 2024 by 3:00 PM. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Good Morning Parents and Scholars. This is Principal Fields with an important announcement. Due to numerous power outages throughout the county, BCCC Scholars will not be attending Beaufort today. Also, broadcast classes at WCECHS have been cancelled today. If you are a driver, the decision to attend BCCC rests with you and your parents/guardians. Campus will open at 9:00 am. All scholars should contact their instructors to let them know they will not be attending class.You are responsible for completing all work. Please be safe and stay warm.
