Dear Washington County Schools’ Family,
Hurricane Idalia made landfall this morning in Florida and is tracking across the state. As a category 3 hurricane, it will bring sustained high winds and rain in its wake. As we prepare for its impact on our area, we are preemptively canceling all afterschool activities for today, Wednesday, August 30th and will designate tomorrow, Thursday, August 31st, a remote learning day. We will assess the aftermath of the inclement weather and inform you of the status of our schools for Friday, September 1st, as soon as possible, so that you and your families may plan accordingly. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
Sincerely,
Dr. David O. White
Interim Superintendent

SCHOOL BUS SAFETY

Gracias,
Dr. David O. White
Superintendente interino
Escuelas del condado de Washington

The 2023-2024 school year is here! Just a few reminders as we embark on a new school year. Open House will be this Friday, August 4th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We are asking all scholars and parents to come out and meet the staff, pick up your schedules, and tour the campus. Elizabeth City State University will also have a representative from Talent Search present to share exciting information about their partnership and program offerings. Also, the first day of school is Monday, August 7th. Please be sure we have your child's correct address. If not, please call the school as soon as possible at 252-797-4766 so that your address can be updated in PowerSchool. That information is vital to the bus garage to ensure that your child is listed on the correct bus route. First period starts promptly at 8:00AM. The school doors open for students at 7:30 AM and breakfast is available from 7:30 pm to 7:55 pm. We look forward to seeing our scholars soon.
