Six graduates

In a heartwarming celebration of achievement, Washington County High School and Washington County Early College High School jointly hosted the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2024 Early Graduates. The event, held at 6:00 PM on December 19, was a joyous occasion filled with pride, accomplishment, and the promise of a bright future.

The ceremony began with a dignified Processional featuring "Pomp and Circumstance," performed by the WCHS JROTC Panther Battalion. As the colors were presented and the national anthem echoed through the venue, the atmosphere was charged with patriotic fervor. Zaccheaus Carmack, a WCECHS graduate, welcomed attendees and Markes Knight, a WCHS graduate led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, setting the tone for the evening.

The graduates were followed by Victoria Fields, the WCECHS Principal, who recognized the distinguished guests on stage. The evening's student speaker, Nigeria Sutton, delivered a poignant reflection, capturing the essence of the graduates' journey and the challenges they overcame to reach this momentous day.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of diplomas by the school administration, with Torrey Hines, WCHS Principal, confirming the graduates' achievements. The turning of the tassel was led by Zy'Moria Norman, symbolizing the graduates' transition from students to alumni.

The event concluded with a recessional, and the audience was invited to stand in honor of the graduates as they left the venue. The program designed by Cordelia Breiner, WCHS Asst. Principal, featured the names of outstanding individuals who successfully completed their high school education ahead of schedule, a remarkable feat applauded by the Washington County community.

The Washington County Schools' administration, represented by Interim Superintendent Dr. David O. White, and the Board of Education, led by Chair Carlos Riddick, Vice Chair Vanessa Cherry, Lois Clark, and Fred Norman, were also present to commend the graduates for their accomplishments.

The early graduates from Washington County High School and Early College High School, listed at the end of the program, were acknowledged for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic excellence. As they embark on new journeys, the Class of 2024 Early Graduates will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on their communities and beyond. Congratulations to the graduates, their families, and the entire Washington County Schools community on this momentous occasion!
