November 19th is Career Development Coordinator Day!
Career Development Coordinators in North Carolina’s CTE programs play a vital role in helping students discover who they are, what they can become, and how to get there. Their work supports students’ growth in personal and social development, academic achievement, lifelong learning, and effective career management so that every student can move toward a purposeful future. By aligning their services with North Carolina’s CTE goals, Career Development Coordinators ensure that career development is not an add-on, but a core part of the educational experience. They collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to embed career awareness, exploration, and planning into CTE courses and schoolwide initiatives.Through ongoing guidance, Career Development Coordinators help students evaluate options that range from immediate employment (civilian or military) to further education at vocational programs, community colleges, or universities. They provide information on programs, credentials, and labor market needs so students and families can make informed, confident choices about life after high school.
