🎓✨ Meet Our 2025 Graduation Keynote Speaker! ✨🎓
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Aatwanti Swain will be the keynote speaker for the Washington County High School Graduation Ceremony on June 6, 2025, at 6:00 PM!
Born and raised right here in Washington County, Aatwanti is a proud former student of our school system and the only child of Telisa and Antwan Wilkins. Her journey is a shining example of what passion, hard work, and perseverance can achieve.
By age 16, she had already earned her Associate of Arts degree while still in high school. Most recently, at just 22 years old, Aatwanti graduated from Campbell University with two advanced degrees — a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Her unwavering commitment to education, leadership, and service makes her the perfect voice to inspire the Class of 2025 as they prepare to embark on their next chapter.
Join us as we welcome home one of our own — Dr. Aatwanti Swain — to the graduation stage! 🖤💛🎓

Today, our CTE Department proudly sponsored a 5th Grade CTE Awareness and Transportation Expo!
Despite the rainy weather preventing some of our transportation industry guests from attending, the event was a tremendous success. WCES 5th graders had an amazing time being introduced to the world of Career and Technical Education.
Each of our CTE departments showcased their programs with hands-on displays and engaging giveaways — including seeds, food, stress balls, name badges, and more — helping students stay alert and excited about future opportunities. In addition, JROTC and Government & Economics had their displays front and center, drawing great interest from our young learners.
Special thanks to Bojangles for providing goodie bags, and to The Law Office of D. Cole Phelps for sponsoring Kona Ice treats. Billy R. Jackson Trucking, Inc. and Beaufort County Community College rolled in their 18-wheelers, allowing students to climb inside and explore these massive machines up close!
A special shoutout to our JROTC department for setting up the event and ensuring students stayed engaged indoors with Game Centers, and to our amazing NTHS members from various CTE programs who helped make the day unforgettable.
We’re proud to continue planting seeds of exploration and opportunity for our future leaders through CTE!

🎉 School Nurse Appreciation Day – May 7th🎉
Today, we proudly recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of our school nurses in honor of School Nurse Appreciation Day. Their work is vital to the health and well-being of our entire school community, and we are incredibly grateful for all they do—both visibly and behind the scenes.
Our school nurses juggle a wide range of responsibilities with professionalism, dedication, and compassion. Their recent contributions include:
Maintaining 100% compliance for student health assessments and immunizations.
Conducting staff-wide training on basic first aid, and training medication administrators and alternates, while ensuring classrooms are stocked with essential first aid supplies.
Collaborating with AGAPE, the Health Department, and WCRMS to holistically support student health needs.
Distributing free COVID-19 tests provided by NCDHHS.
Organizing and implementing the SMILE Mobile Dentist Program, offering students free dental care.
Successfully applying for and receiving a $5,000 Feminine Hygiene Grant, benefiting students from elementary through high school.
Completing Stop the Bleed emergency preparedness training.
Responding daily to the physical and emotional needs of students and staff, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
Our school nurses are the heartbeat of health in our schools. Their commitment, skill, and care make a lasting difference every single day.
Today, we salute you—and we thank you.

We’re celebrating student success and early achievement!
This year, three of our outstanding students are graduating from Beaufort County Community College through the Career & College Promise (CCP) program!
Please help us congratulate:
M. Norman
T. Williams
I. Belcher
The CCP program allows eligible high school students to get a head start on their college and career goals by earning college credits while still enrolled in high school. While many students take advantage of the tuition-free pathway, these three chose to invest in themselves and complete the program as all-payers.
What makes this accomplishment even more impressive? By graduating from community college and completing high school simultaneously, these students will enter a four-year university as college freshmen — not transfer students. That means full access to first-year scholarships, campus housing, and the complete college experience.
Your hard work, discipline, and vision for your future have set the bar high. We are so proud of you!
