Due to freezing temperatures that will not rise before mid-morning, and with many of our roads being untreated (with possible black-ice in the morning), WCS will be closing all schools tomorrow, Dec. 9, 2025. Please stay tuned to our website, parent contact systems, and social media for updates regarding return to learn dates. A makeup day will be scheduled for a future date in January. Please be safe on the roads if you have to travel in the morning.

Dear Washington County School Community,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to provide an important update regarding the construction of our new school building. As you may be aware, this project is a significant investment in the future of our students and community, and we have been eagerly anticipating its completion.
Unfortunately, I must inform you that the delivery and opening of the new building will be delayed until late fall. Despite the best efforts of our construction team and partners, unexpected site issues have impacted the project timeline.
We understand that this news may be disappointing, especially for those who were looking forward to utilizing the new facilities. Please rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to address these issues and expedite the completion process. Our primary concern remains the safety and quality of the building, and we are committed to ensuring that it meets the highest standards.
Although this is an unfortunate circumstance, we are still moving forward with our planned consolidation of Washington County Elementary School (formerly Pines and Creswell Elementary Schools) and Washington County High School (combined WCHS and WCMS). We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this situation.
We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the project and will notify you of the new expected completion date as soon as it is confirmed. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work towards providing the best possible educational environment for our students.
Sincerely,
David O. White, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Washington County Schools
