WCECHS Weekly Update 9/18/2022

This week students may file to run for SGA Officers.  Open positions are for President, Vice President, and Secretary.  If you are interested in having your name on the ballot, please email Mr. Price this week with your information and the position in which you are seeking election.  Voting will occur on Friday, September 30th.  Election results will be announced on the October 2nd weekly update at 7:30 pm.

There are only 14 more days left in the first nine weeks of school.  The nine weeks end on October 6th, and we will have a report card pick up on October 13th from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.  Please mark these important dates on your calendar and make plans to attend.

On Friday, October 7th, there will be a school workday for students to earn community service hours.  The workday will run from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm with a hot dog lunch being provided.

This year our school-wide fundraiser will be Indian River fruit and Christmas wreaths.  We will kick off our fruit sale on October 17th.  This is the same day as our WCS Fall Community meeting in Creswell.  This will be a great fundraiser for our school as we raise money for school events.  Please plan on participating in our school fundraiser this year.

On October 20th, WCECHS will deliver canned food to the North Carolina Foodbank and attend the North Carolina State fair.  In order to be eligible to participate  then, students must:
1)  Assist in the can food drive by collecting at least six canned food items
2)  turn in at least five community service hours to MS. Perry.
3) You cannot have any grade below a C, nor can you have any assignment marked as a zero and not turned in.
Please make plans now so that you can participate in this event.

Seniors:
I had a chance to meet with almost everyone during last week's CAPS meetings.  Here are the essential items that you should be working on:
1)  Update your CFNC website access
2)  Complete your RDS
3)  Download your Common Application for College.  Write your essays now!  Don't wait for free college application week on October 17th to write these essays.  It would be best if you were well prepared before submitting applications, so get started and submit your best work.
4)  Review upcoming scholarship deadlines on CFNC.
