Students and families can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) beginning October 1 for the 2023-2024 school year. Completing a FAFSA is a requirement to be considered for federal aid such as PELL grants, subsidized and unsubsidized federal guaranteed student loans, and targeted aid for specific groups. Some schools require students to complete a FAFSA to receive merit-based scholarships.
