Pines Elementary is excited to announce our Duke Energy Science Night on April 18, 2024 at 5:00PM. Join us in exploring science, technology, engineering and mathematics through engaging hands-on activities such as making UV Bracelets, testing Paper Flying Machines, creating Sound Sandwiches, and much more! We look forward to seeing you there.

WCMS 6th-grade scholars had the privilege of exploring the North Carolina Central University campus. Their adventure was centered around the BRITE (Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise) program. During this visit, they engaged in a fascinating activity where they extracted their own DNA. This experience culminated in an insightful debriefing session where they discussed how a long strand of DNA fits within a nucleus, the reasons behind using sports drinks over water, the role of lysis solutions in disrupting the cell membrane, and the factors that make DNA visible in the lysate. To commemorate this experience, they crafted necklaces containing their DNA to share with their parents and guardians. Additionally, the scholars participated in a Pipette Challenge, honing their skills in accurately picking up tips and samples. This excursion was an excellent opportunity for our students to dive into hands-on learning, offering them an early glimpse into the world of biomanufacturing and research. #HandsOnLearning #EarlyExposure

Congratulations to our WCS Board of Education Members on receiving awards from the NCSBA Academy of School Boardsmanship. The recognitions were presented by Interim Superintendent, Dr. David O. White to Ms. Vanessa Cherry a Certificate of Achievement, Ms. Lois Clark an Award of Excellence, Mrs. Sherri Blount Gilliam a Certificate of Merit, Mr. Fred Norman a Bronze Award and Mr. Carlos Riddick an Award of Distinction.

Parents, Guardians and Scholars this is a friendly reminder to come out this evening to the WCMS Curriculum Night today from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm. There will be presentations, information, board games, test taking strategies, student led gallery walk and so much more. See you there!

The excitement is in the air! Pines Elementary School Sneaker Ball will be April 12, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm. There are still tickets available for Scholars to purchase for this wonderful event. Bertie Falcons vs. Washington County Panthers Friday, March 8, 2024 at 6:00 pm. Washington County High School will be enforcing a zero tolerance for any misbehavior or disorderly conduct for this athletic event.  Please alert all parents and fans of these  expectations - this is the only warning given.  No exceptions!  The admission is $8.00 per person.  Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 7:30 am - 8:30 am for students only.  Students will only be allowed to purchase one ticket.  We will begin selling tickets to the general public from 9:00 am until we sell out.  Fans will only be allowed to purchase 3 tickets.  •  No person will make any derogatory remarks directed to any players, coaches, fans, officials, or teams.  •  Any physical contact with any players, coaches, fans, officials, or teams in a violent or aggressive manner will involve law enforcement. • No hoods on the head will be worn in the building at any time. CONGRATULATIONS Washington County High School JROTC Panther's Battalion for hosting an amazing Family Military Ball. Battalion Commander Baldwin you did an awesome job leading your Leadership Team and Cadets throughout this process. SGT James and Cadets you did wonderful executing the logistics of the event from beginning to end. Drill Team was outstanding with the cadences and drills. Families we hope that you felt welcomed and enjoyed your evening. The meal prepared by SGM Arnold and desserts by Mrs. Madeline Davenport were very delicious.

Good Afternoon. The Washington County High School Panthers Battalion JROTC will give away Prom Dresses again this year. The dresses will be on display on Thursday by the Principal's Office. High School (during lunch break and afterschool) and Middle School Students (afterschool) free to stop by and check them out. The program will also sponsor five students who are in need of a pair of shoes for the prom. ARMY STRONG!

The Pre-K Applications can be picked up from CES, PES AND Central Office starting on March 1st. Completed Applications ONLY will be accepted at CSS only starting on April 1st. Please read the application throughly and secure all of the necessary documentation when submitting the completed package.

"CES GOT TALENT" Scholars at Creswell Elementary School did an awesome job showcasing their talents. From singing to dancing to even telling jokes, each scholars was energetic and confident with their presentation. Thank You CES Staff for advising and mentoring our scholars beyond the classroom. Job well done by everyone.

Washington County Schools will host a DISTRICT ARTS NIGHT on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the WCMS/PES Gym in Roper, NC. The ART Work will be created by the scholars from each of our five schools. The ART Teachers from WCHS, WCMS, PES and CES have inspired the scholars to be creative with their unique masterpieces. WCECHS scholars are preparing ART WORK as well. Each of the performers are preparing their performance to showcase with our community. Please come out to support our scholars throughout the medium of the ARTS. The excitement is in the air!
